Firehawks
Book by Emily Bohannon Directed by Jessi Hill
Hazel wakes up in a strange institution with a strange scar, not sure how she got here. Out of the other four women in her room, one other has the same scar. When they meet, they're all strangers, each incarcerated on account of her race, class, disability, or sexual orientation. By the end, they band together to burn the joint down. This play is inspired by the approximately 40,000 young women who were forcibly sterilized under eugenic legislation in the United States between 1907 and 1963.
